石牌坊在揭陽也被稱作"石亭"。因?yàn)樗亲鳛橹腥A文明的象征,牌坊最早周朝就已經(jīng)出現(xiàn),開始的時(shí)候它只是門的稱呼。到了唐代,城市開始實(shí)施里坊制,也就是把繁瑣錯(cuò)亂的街道劃分成方塊狀。
